Berlin, the ever-changing and dynamic city, is not just one of the most influential political centers of the European Union but also one of the most coveted metropolises of the world. In the past few years the German capital was able to gain advantages over other European cities and is now one of the main hubs for travel-
ers in Europe. Besides its central geopolitical location, Berlin is an important financial, cultural and educational center for Germany. Universities, Research Centres, Theatres, Operas, Museums and Festivals with international recognition, combined with an exciting, diversified architecture, make Berlin a vibrant and exciting desti-
nation. Furthermore, it is also well known for its proximity to all political institutions. Putting all this together makes Berlin a highly profitable business destination.

Due to its history, Berlin took the challenging opportunity to re-
develop itself into various sectors. While other huge destinations have to tear down buildings or develop in outer suburbs, Berlin has the unique ability to develop new innovations within the city limits. Berlin took this great and absolutely unique advantage,
due to the German reunification, to rebuild the city. More than half a century ago, world famous actresses, singers and entertainers, such as Marlene Dietrich and Hildegard Knef, performed the song “Ich hab´ noch einen Koffer in Berlin”, which basically means “I will always come back to Berlin”. This is long ago, and the city´s tourism flourished more than ever before.

In 2007 Berlin denoted 7.59 million guests who booked a total of 17.286 million overnight-stays. This is a new record for the Berlin tourism industry and the fourth record in a row. The long-term trend seems to continue, in the period January - July 2008 there were 4,38 million guests in Berlin who booked a total of 9.918 million overnight-stays. The main reason for this being Berlin´s innovative progression and change, of all forms, making it a highly desirable city. This prospering city is currently and in the future the ultimate tourist destination. Among other destinations, The Great Wheel Corporation has taken the unique chance to create this international project in Berlin.

After several considerations in the past, the final placement for the tallest European observation-wheel is now finalized: directly located in the heart of the city - at the Zoological Garden area. Very soon Berlin can be proud of yet, another new landmark:
The Great Berlin Wheel.
