Press Report: The Great Berlin Wheel GmbH conducts pointed optimizations in the planning of Europe´s highest observation wheel
The Berlin construction council has signalized to encourage the economical optimization process for the Berlin Zoo
observation wheel. The revision of the conceptual design for the departure hall was brought to a successful agreement
between the Great Berlin Wheel Company and the construction council of the senate de-
partment for urban development.
The
Great Berlin Wheel Company will conduct pointed optimi-
zations in the planning and construction of Europe´s highest
observation wheel. The changes focused by Berlin´s public intrests will be arranged in closed collaboration with the
respon-
sible departments of the Berlin borough of Mitte. The planned changes will be conducted in mutual agreement
between the Berlin senate and the Great Berlin Wheel Company.
„On the one hand, the modifications projected by our
company will help to optimize the construction costs, on the other hand we will set new standards with regard to
efficiency and quality during the construction time of this urbanistic outstanding building. Our observation wheel
does not only release an important pulse for the location Berlin Zoo, but also sustains the economical and touristical
potential of the area between Hardenbergplatz and Müller-Breslau-Straße&ldquo, Michael Waiser, chief executive officer of
the Great Berlin Wheel Company, said.
The Great Berlin Wheel Company errects the highest observation wheel in Europe on the area of the former access yard
of the Berlin Zoo. The Berlin borough Mitte issued the building licence in October 2007. The Great Berlin Wheel GmbH
& Co. KG and the Zoologischer Garten Berlin AG celebrated the first symbolic ground-breaking on 03rd December 2007.

Michael Waiser, CEO of the Great Berlin Wheel GmbH & Co. KG, presented the Berlin observation wheel
at the Tourism Dialogue with subject „New Berlin attractions - future magnets for tourists“
to the berlin press as well as to agents of the tourism industry. Mr. Mike Keller, General Manager of the O2 World and Mr.
Gerhard Buchholz from the Berlin Tourism Marketing GmbH conducted the conversation with Mr. Waiser.
Observation Wheels are more attractive than the classical tourism attractions
As written by dpa on 05th June 2008 observation wheels are more attractive for tourists than classical tourism
attractions. The London Eye denotes more visitors per year than the St. Pauls Cathedral in London, the Taj Mahal in India
and the Pyramids of Gizeh in Egypt.

The Great Berlin Wheel GmbH & Co. KG moved to the new office with view on the future location of the
observation wheel on 01st June.
The offices are located at Hardenbergplatz 2, 10623 Berlin now.

The supporting association of the Berlin Tierpark and Zoo e.V. admitted the Great Berlin Wheel
GmbH & Co. KG as new member number 950 today.

As an assumption for starting the building measures for the Berlin observation wheel
currently the access yard of the Zoologischer Garten gets build new.
The new access yard will be optimized for care and
supply for the animals living in the Berlin Zoo.
As soon as the building shell is ready, the relocation will start in autumn 2008. After this is done, the
terminal of the observation wheel can be build at the same place.
Contemporaneous the detailed project plannings are running in adaptation with architects, engineers and
ancillary companies.
